Things don't look very good :(

Everything in my tank looks HUNGRY and some of my stuff won't open up.
Just a-bunch of open mouths and my Bryans Baby Chalice has a little recession going on. Everything tested fine I did 2 big water changes today.
Yes 'big' as in 3g haha.

PH 8.3-8.4
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
Calcium 430-440
Salinity 1.025

That's all the test kits I have, any ideas ???

check magneseum should be around1300 to 1380. i struggle to keep mine at 1230.

ps .i try to keep all paramaters around the same values as natural sea water,except i keep cal. a little higher

Do you think Magnesium could be too low or too high ?

If you dont have a ALK/DKH test kit I would say thats your problem. If my ALK gets to low/high or have big swings I see the efects in my chalices no growth less color and have had a few to start receading. I would start there asap

I did have to use buffer for the first time in forever before they started looking like this. Adding ph buffer raises or lowers alk ? Sorry I need to do more reading about my chem

The buffer should raise your alk and calcium . Anyway if you want to run all the test on your water give me a call ,I have most of them .

It could not be getting enough light. It appears you have it in the sand and depending on your lighting, it could be straining for light

It's a 20l with a 150w MH over there is def enough light I think, unless it was under a-lot more before I got it, I had just picked it up Saturday.

I've been reading about alk and man.... Stuff I should have started with !

well it could be adjusting still. the lighting does have some effect but i wouldn't be too worried yet unless you notice it changing colors but def look into your alk

I'd check magnesium alk is fine with water changes like you've done, but mag always needs to be tweeked for the given system.

Thanks for the info guys. Plan now is to get my water tested at a friends. Also buy Alk+Mag test this week. After my params settle back down are corals hurt pretty bad or could I expect quick recovery ?

The coral should recover pretty fast once you find the prob. Im pretty sure its a ALK issuse cuz if you just now had to buffer that means ALK was pretty low.

shouldnt really need to buffer your PH with regular water changes. Are you dosing anything?
