I would add a 3/4 plywood top to level any imperfections in the dimensional lumber. In addition, as mentioned, skin that with something to keep it from racking. Otherwise, you're good to go. EDIT TO ADD: I just took a second look at your pictures and it looks like the tank extends past the supports on the left and right. If that is the case, definitely add the 3/4 top and that apparent inch or so can be supported by the cantilevered plywood top.

I have always "over built" like battle tanks. Makes me sleep better at night. Lol
