Thinking about halides.

One more question. Just noticed the lumen bright reflector comes in a mini and large. I'm assuming large is the way to go or does height of fixture make a bigger difference? The mini would fit the package better but also have enough room large.

Again it will depend on your aquascape.
The mini is 16 X 16 X 7 and the large is 20 X 20 X 9.
I would get the large.

How high are mh above water line?
10-12" is my guess

8" and they were the small 16" Lumin Bright that worked great
Also Radium lamps are pulse start lamps, so any ballast that is pulse start verses the older magnetic probe start ballast will work.

Everything installed. Having an issue with one of the halides. One doesn't always power up. Not sure if it's the reflector or ballast

Try to unscrew the bulb and slowly screw it again. Don't thigh too much.
I had this issue when I had halides...

Thanks for the suggestion. I really like the color and the shimmer is very nice. Gonna have to keep an eye on temp. Tank is rising quickly

Put a fan between the water surface and the fixtures to cut most of the heat emission. Chiller will work less that way.

I will give that a try if temps get to high

This is how I run my fans over the display there is also a vent fan that exhausts to the home exterior above the lights. My tank rarely goes above 80 but (fans on at 78.5)... central air all summer so ambiant room temp is never more than 77.

Thanks for the image. I keep my home around 76 in the summer months. Cooler during the other months.

I had one and it eas noisy. I use one from Hamilton and its pretty quiet
