i have been running halides ever since i took the plunge into the world of sps. always been very happy with the halides, especially when i had my 90g still running. i upgraded to a 210 earlier this year and due to the pendants being closer to the tank and the extra tank depth, things just dont look the same. you almost cant even tell when my vhos are on. i have an 8 bulb tek light over my frag tank and am really starting to like the colors i am getting on the frags in it. it did take a while for them to adjust, but then evenness of the light and growth just cant be beat. i am thinking of switching to t5's for the 210g display now, but am just worried i might regret it. the other problem is, other than the ati powermod, the next best light i can find for the length of the tank is the 8x80w tek light, which is only 60in long. will the gap on the ends be that noticeable? a lot of my corals are on the ends of the tank(starting at around 7-8inches from the side glass). and i dont really want to have to re-aquascape everything. so i guess the overall question is:
Is it really worth it to switch to the t5's, will the 8 bulb fixture be enough light for the 30in tall tank, and will the ends of the tank get enough light?
they do have a 72in fixture that is 12x39w, but it is like a current fixture and i dont think it will be good enough at all.
