Since im still sick as a dog I am gonna work from bed today on getting all the videos and pix off my phone and go pro. Ill throw them on you tube and post a link here for those that want to see them. Oh and stinky laundry. Afraid to look at tank when lights come up. That will just have to wait until tomorrow.

Feeling about 75% this am. Scraped the glass and things aren't as bad as I expected. The cyano has depleted the nutrients enough that I no longer have any zoas which is a real gut punch. But other side of thins is that all the sps are growing like crazy. Still no clue how im gonna beat the cyano. This is worse then dealing with the dinos I had.
Gonna remove as much as I can today from the display and clean out the sump again.
I know the flow is fine so its got to be a bacterium imbalance. Need to find something that will out compete the cyano. Mud? Microbacter7? Live rock or sand?
Blackout?
I am going to keep fighting this red goo but its getting very hard.
Any ideas would be helpful and welcome.
Ill test in a few days Sunday am.

Glad you’re feeling better and the tank didn’t suffer as much as you were thinking. Sorry about the zoas.

Sucks about the zoas.

Think positive. In the last post I saw from you, on another thread, you said you were 60%. You're on the upswing.

Icp? Some suggest it could be depleted trace elements that help fuel cyano... I used chemiclean on my last outbreak and now am struggling to get nitrates back down
Interesting theory. I plan on sending one out once the weather improves.

Glad you are on the upswing! Being sick is not on my recommended list.

In my experience dosing nitrates helped a ton with getting rid of cyano. targeting 5-10ppm and puffing it off the rocks every other day or so and not letting the sand mat up, and it just went away on its own. I did also dose aqua forest pro bio too, and i think that helped a ton. I still dose pro-bio F sporadically, it is the powder version. but i did dose both S and F when cyano was an issue. Since then, it has never been an issue.

Tested as promised.
Temp 25.2 inkbird 24.67 Hydros
Salinity 1.0255 tropical marin hydrometer
Ph 7.93 hydros
Po .346 Hanna checker 2× averaged
Ni 2 Salifert ×2
Alk .58 6.4 Salifert
Ca .12 440 Salifert
Mag 1500 Salifert

Only thing is to lower the Po or raise the Ni to get the sweet spot between the 2. Maybe a little raise in the nitrates bc they have never been that low in my tank ever. Alk ran out while I was gone so dosing that back up to normal levels 7/8.
Other than that unk what more I can do other then continue to manually remove and add some bacteria to the mix.
Placing an order for some stuff today.

I used rebiotic in my old tank when I was having issues with cyano I couldn't beat (it was growing ON my powerheads and gyre, so definitely not a flow issue)

Alot of people swear by mixing bacteria with calcium carbonate(coral snow) to suppress/ get rid of cyano... ive never done it
Thats the plan when it comes i have a couple different ones to try.
