Tonight I was doing my nightly check up on my tank... making sure things aren't leaking, everyone is alive and well, and so on. Well... tonight I noticed A WHOLE LOT of white dots in my sump. Now, I did notice white dots on the back of my tank for a while now, but to be honest, I figured they were bits of sand that were stuck. I don't scrub the back glass, hoping to leave something there for the urchin to eat. So I assumed they were sand stuck to algae I couldn't see. But now, these white dots are investing my sump. What are they and how do I get rid of them.

75 gallon reef tank
1.026 salinity
8.0 pH
8 kh
0 ammonia
0 nitrites
40 nitrites (yes, I know this is high)
0.05 phosphates
1410 Magnesium
380 Calcium

If you look at one super up close are they little spirals?

Spirorbid worms. Each tank is a little different but from what I've seen they come and go in spurts.
I like to think they are evidence of a healthy tank. You can scrape them off.

From Reef2Reef link below :)

-Spirorbid Worms:
Spirorbid Worms are tiny harmless filter feeders. They live in a hard spiral shell that they pop out from to feed similar to a feather duster. They grow on the glass and on rocks, avoiding over feeding keeps their numbers under control."

Thank you! At least it's not too much to worry about.
