Since not all rock is in yet, I added a few BioBlocks and AF BioFil. I'm still waiting for the plumbing supplies, hardware and the UV so have a single, smaller Sicce 3.0 pump doing the deed for now. Expecting everything to arrive tomorrow.

It's been a while since I updated the build thread so I'll post the updates as they happened. Sorry, life got in the way.

First things first, attempting to stick in the AQuaUV 57W within the cabinet.

Trying to hard plumb we'll see how this thing performs

Added a SiCCE 7 pump and a COR-15 pump for each one of the return lines, with 1" Apex inline flow sensors. I split the return into a 1/2" outlet, thinking I might use it for carbon later on.

Seams good. Seams to me it'll hold water. Seams pretty straight forward to put together.

Plans on coral and fish besides a tang?

Hope the seams stay together

Looks like I'm ready. Or as ready as I can be. This was about 3 weeks, so not so bad! In another development, I received some amazing live rock from TampaBay Live rocks. Drove down to Tampa, met Madelyn & Jocelyn and I could not be happier! I just wish I had ordered premium rock but looking at this rock, I almost feel like putting it in the Display!

This is so much better than the dry rock I have up there. I also go 20lbs of Sand

Many thanks @LiverockRocks , I am one happy camper. Also got some nice hitchhikers including some snails and a crab. Not sure what kind of crab it is but its in the sump so I'm not worried.

Say hello to the 1st occupant of the brand new aquarium. I got this on the way back from Tampa, stopped at @WWC in Orlando and picked him up. This was my first time at WWC and boy, I am glad I don't live close to them otherwise I would be there every day! It's almost like Fantasy Land for people like me.

Time to start planning the electrical/controls area. I measured the dimensions and got a plywood sheet from homedepot. Although the aquarium is huge, I don't understand how I end up with such a little space to house all the electronics/controllers/dosers.

I also got a strip light from IKEA and ran it across the cabinet to light things up before anything else.

That's a really bright idea! Looking good!

Here's what the plywood panel looks like before I bolted it in using 3 right angle steel joints. Trying to drill as little as possible in this cabinet, after all, its all off 200 Gallons of water on top of this MDF!

Got a new RSK600 DC Skimmer (I wanted a 900 but the 600 was the only one available at my LFS). Been waiting for this for a while!. Also added the standard controller cabinet from Adaptive reef over the plywood panel. Here's what everything looks like

ok, so not such a great thing to see but easy to take care of. I only saw one Aiptasa on the live rock and quickly took F-Aiptasia to task. But I'm going to hold off on getting more live rock for now.

Okay so for the left side of the cabinet, I would want the wires to stay contained so I can do pump maintenance without having to unhook everything and trace wires. Going to have to drill a little bit more on the weight bearing central support. Scary but hoping its okay.
20230429_142415 (1).jpg

So, the SICCE controller, CORE 15 controller and the Redsea ReefRun controller can all be mounted to the one bar behind and I don't have to drill again and again on the weight bearing MDF. Also, all the wires can be unscrewed from here so when I need to do maintenance, I do not have to deal with tangled mess.

The Skimmer is still not broken in!

Time to populate the controller board. I chose an Apex Pro and and a Trident. 10 years back, it wasn't this expensive! And I have not tested what the levels were. Good to know the levels were fine so far!

So, for the right side, I figured I need a little help with the RedSea sliding panel.

It's unbelievable that even with an aquarium this size, space is still going to be a premium. In any case, the initial hookup is done!

Turns out I have run out of space. Well, almost. The First two DOSers are for Saltwater and RO water. They'll pull in water from RO tubing from outside the house. The third one is to do water change from teh tank to outside. The remaining three are for Ca, Alk and Mg dosing. I know this is not how most folks do but this is what worked for me 10 years ago and I intend to do as little new NEW as possible.

Also shown above are three SIMPLY containers that I ordered and think I would use for long term instead of the RedSea bottles since they're not transparent.

Added two MP40 power heads instead of the temporary AI Nero 3. And some SPS frags from @WWC that I snagged during a sale. I know some of these frags will not live since its only been 30 days since the beginning of the tank but oh well!
