My euphyllia garden has been in my new Nuvo 20 for about 2.5 months now. Everyone's been doing great but my octo has been retracting a bit for the past week and trying to sort out why.

This is everyone in Sept 28th. (note how long the octos tentacles are (almost looking like a torch) I absolutely love this guy so I dont want to lose it...hes like an Octotorch! :

Here is everyone today. Octo is much more retracted but tbh almost looks more like how an octospawn should be, tighter tentacles but I know this isn't how its been for a few months now. Flow seems light to medium, gentle swaying.

My params are:

Sal 1.025
Temp 77
Ph 8.3
Phos 0.01
Nitrates 5-10
Calc 410-420
Alk 7.9 (was around 6.5-7.5 last month, raised it slowly with AFR after getting an idea of consumption)
MG haven't tested in awhile
I'm using tropic Marin Pro reef

Do you think it may be getting too much light being more in the center of the tank? I'm running an AI Prime 16D, BRS light schedule at about 50%. I don't have a PAR meter so I'm just guessing here but seems everyone else is doing fine but they are all off to the sides more. I can't imagine 50% is pushing out more than 130 par at that spot but you never know. The rhodactis off the right is a little further off to the side but it seems to be reaching slightly so Im hard pressed to think my AI Prime is too bright. Thoughts anyone? I haven't moved it yet or made any adjustments till I know my next move.

Welllll crap, I decided to move him. While pulling him out of the epoxy the skeleton broke just about a half inch down from the flesh.... What do you guys think. Is it done for?

I think it might be ok but I'm no expert. As long as the skeleton isn't cracked and the fleshy part didn't get torn I think it should be the same as if you had just fragged it.

Oh and from the original question, have you thought of dipping it. I just ask cause my octo was receding for a couple weeks now and turns out it was a flatworm infestation. Lost about 1/8 of it so far :(

Yeah I think its alright too but its still heavily ticked. Were you able to see the flatworm infestation at all? Since I ticked it with the skeleton breaking Im reluctant to do anything further.

I didn't see anything. Just guessed and figured it wouldn't hurt. But it might be best to wait for it to open up again and then dip it and get it mad at you again. I used Revive dip and hoping it got them all. Now to wait a week just in case of eggs and do it again.
