Torch coral

Im a newbie running a 32 gallon stripped down biocube I want to get some frostbite clowns and a torch coral instead of an anemone. Would this work? If yes I would really appreciate any tips/info on torch coral one been attempting to do research but anything helps. Thanks!

I have a biocube with 3 torch corals in it :D My clownfish could care less about it, they are hosted by the back side of the powerhead lol.

I think I've seen clown fishes hosting a torch before, but I'm not sure if there's any tips to get clowns to host on anything... heck, sometimes clowns won't even host on anemones. Goodluck!

It could work. They may host, or be hosted by, the torch. My hammer corals host my clowns. I had one hammer before anything else, and the clowns took to it. I added an anemone that moved itself right next to the hammer, so the clowns dove into both. Now I moved the hammer across the tank next to another hammer and my clowns go back and forth between both hammers and the anemone(s). If you want the clowns to live with the torch, I'd suggest getting the torch first so they get used to it before anything else.

I had a gold nugget clown tried to get a torch to host it but unfortunately it was too brutal for the torch and the torch retracted and died.

To pile on, there's no guarantees the torch will host the clowns. IME, when corals like that do host them, it can be bad for the corals. When clowns are mature they tend to get aggressive with rubbing into the host coral and not everything can handle it. I had a pair kill a hammer coral at one point because they abused it so bad.

Also to mention anytime my clowns rub against my torch, it completely retracts.

I don't know if torches are more sensitive to this than other corals. They may be. My hammer retracted at first and I was worried the clowns would stress it too much. Now everything is fine fortunately, but the clowns are still rough sometimes. They often bite the polyps and rub into it aggressively.

I had a maroon clown that would bite the bulbs of the torch tentacles. Got rid of the clown but torch never really healed all the way. Lost the torch when GFO stripped water too clean and Dino’s exploded
