What traces missing? My torches were really flakey until an ICP told me I was critically low on iodine, manganese and iron. I started dosing trace elements and now the flesh bands are extremely robust.

All of the other corals are doing well.

Your ICP is within range.

You have enough nutrients.

You have enough flow and light.

The coral is happy but then has polyps missing suddenly.

The only answer is that there is a predator that is targeting your torches and euphyllia. It could be a fish or an invert.

Now’s the time to become a detective and find who’s the culprit. You are doing everything correct chemistry-wise. I cannot see one thing to change regarding chemistry.

Many people can keep these corals without adding any trace elements. Just focus on the obvious cause. If the issue was trace elements, you’d see it in many of the other corals. It wouldn’t just affect torches.

Unfortunately this is what Joker torches tend to do. I've got hundreds if not thousands of Euphyllia heads in my tanks. some colorations like NY Knicks splitting like no tomorrow. I've tried many Joker variations, from Australia, Indonesia and even allegedly Malaysia. Melting away is all they do.
