Two days - two fish gone

Yesterday, my chalk basslet was nowhere to be found. Today, yasha goby has disappeared. I have a lid on my tank, but checked the floor, under the stand, rear chambers - nothing. No signs of illness in either one. How does this happen? Ugh, it’s heartbreaking.

Hopefully they show back up. With a lid seems unlikely they got out
