New fish, not eating and kind of swimming in a half circle. And it the back half is two toned. It’s in the second day of general cure. Excuse the dirty glass. Any suggestions on what I can do?

How did you acclimate it and did you equalize the salinity before releasing into the tank? Additionally, these fish may take a couple of days to settle in. Keep lights low and sand in the quarantine tank Not advised as it may absorb some of the medication

This discoloration seems to be a bruise, possibly from harsh handling during capture and transport.

The head down bobbing motion is pretty common with newly acquired Genicanthus angelfish from deeper water. In order to get these fish to the surface, divers use a needle to "decompress" them. That in turn can fail, causing gas retention - the fish tries to correct that by swimming head down in order to maintain its place in the water column. There is no treatment if it is that issue, but some fish are able to reabsorb the gas and swim normally.

Was this fish shipped to you or did you see it in the store before you bought it? If the latter, was it swimming normally at the store? Did the store employee have to chase it around to capture it?

It died. @Affordable Aquaria said it was still acclimating. It died overnight.

This hobby is amazing, but it has its frustration points. One of mine is when I ask for help and folks say “contact the place where you bought it.” That is pretty intuitive; I wouldn’t have come to this forum if that was what I needed. Thanks to the folks who actually offered opinions regarding my question. #Happy#happyreefing

Sorry to hear. Didn’t mean to upset you, or waste your time. You’ll find in this hobby sometimes the fish have no hope because they were mistreated during the collection process or stressed or due to disease are not going to survive. My advice was to help you get a replacement fish (if necessary) by letting the supplier know ahead of time that you’re having a serious issue, not to challenge or question your intuition.

I did not know if you knew that affordable aquarium was the same ownership as Dr. Reef who is the most incredible online retailer.

Many online retailers don’t offer a guarantee at all, and if they do, have a strict protocol to follow in order to receive credit .

Not knowing your level of experience in dealing with online saltwater fish purchases I was trying to give you useful information. Good luck
