Hi

Has anyone built an under gravel filter for 1 gallon tank?

What I am not clear is how an air stone can push water up through the plate evenly.
This requires lot ot air pressure?

I am setting up for Opae shrimp tank and debating to use UGF or not. Some experienced owners
state it keeps the water cleaner.

With an air stone-powered UGF, the stone releases bubbles at the bottom of the lift tube. The rising bubbles causes water to be drawn down through the plenum (plate) and back up through the lift tube. To push water down through the tube and up through the plenum is known as "reverse flow UGF" and requires a water pump instead of an air stone.
