Hi all

Quick post - I received a torch coral around 2 weeks ago. Has been looking lovely and fully extended, until the last day or so.

It seems as though the right side is a bit extended and bleached. It doesn't retract those tentacles when the flows turned off.

I've attached a video from around a week ago and a couple photos from tonight for reference. Bit hard to spot in the light but I can turn on whites and take new ones if necessary. Just don't want to screw around with it too much.

Parameters from tonight :

Nitrates: 20ppm
salinity: 1.026 (bit concerned about this. I calibrated on sunday using rodi and have ordered 35ppt solution due friday to recalibrate)
Alk : 8.6
Ph: 8.2
ammonia: 0
phosphate: 0.56
Temp: 78F

Tldr - bit of a change for tentacles on the right - worried? 20250806_201800.jpg 20250806_201757.jpg 20250806_201807_001.jpg

That’s a big phosphate number at .56ppm.
.1ppm is plenty for me.

Nitrate on the high end for me, 5ppm plenty.
I run 2ppm.

But every tank different. IMG_1099.jpeg

Bumping this thread - parameters are the same as before except phosphate is around .11ppm and has been fairly stable for some time.

The tissue started receding at the time of the above post (one month ago) and is fairly high up the skeleton now. Pics attached. Recession has slowed considerably but not stopped.

Also attached pics of a hammer in the same tank which has a nice healthy band and has been In the tank the same amount of time. Photos are at night hence retraction - during the day both corals are fully extended and look pretty magnificent and coloured up.

Any thoughts? Plus any thoughts on treatment? I have multiple dips but I wouldn't want to go harsh on it - perhaps just a diluted dip of iodine ?

I do notice lots of spirorbis but not sure this would be a huge factor?
