Hello,

So since it wasn’t horribly terrible weather I went and made a new bowl. Used a different mix, basically recycled clay that I didn’t feel the pot was good enough. (Super ocd on them), but anyway used some of that 1.5 pounds then mixed with 1.5 pounds of a new 200 mesh grog clay (basically stiff clay), and mixed them together. It wasnt bad, may add a little more of the stiffer clay. This one I used a rib to basically pull and shape it, and focused on having very smooth curves that are fluent per say. This is 5 inches tall, by 8 wide so (almost the whole width of the wheel head (center sections). Because my wheel doesn’t have a bat system I have to make sure it fits on the wheel or I can’t trim it etc. anyway :)

Nope, still not clear. Not sure how you expect anyone to see the fish you plan on keeping in it.

Hello,

Well I could cut holes in it to make it clear but it may not hold water lol. But that would be cool, and for what I want I’d need a wheel the size of my garage. Not to mention they would have to cement me to the floor and chair. I can only center 4 pounds at once. However I can go up to 25 pounds if I add four pounds each time and since the bottom is centered then the top is super easy. But doesn’t help that I’m still 90 pounds but I have my ways to make it center (lol like just take a round bowl and place it over it cutting the bad parts off :/ (lol this is not a good idea FYI). But I’d love to see if there is a clear clay. That would be neat but god awful heavy

Love the pottery! Keep up the good work. I love the way the curves flow on that bowl and vase.

Hello,

Thank you kindly and yes I try and make the curves and lines really go together. I’ve made some and as I make them I’m so in love with them. Then I stop and take a step back from the wheel and it’s Nope lol. If I have not used too much water I can try and reshape it. But if it’s softer clay and you bend it then it will collapse.

Hey Sarah, good to see you on here and hear from you. Always loved pottery, never tried it though . I can’t sit still long enough to tackle that patient work . It looks amazing though, keep up the good work!

Glad to here from you again - next time you disappear we may have to tag in Patrick Swayze :D I think the 2500 refers to the fact that you have written more than 2500 post (but not more than 5000 :D)

Beautiful pottery. Once upon a time - we lived next door to a pottery maker. She was very picky with her work - her dust-bin was a goldmine - we still have her works in our house - both first and second class :D

Sincerely Lasse

Hello;

Yes dear friends I’m still here and sorry I just had to take a Haitus from everything. Still have my tank all though it’s being a brat. So that’s been a struggle. I found my self to quiet and lonely so I went back to my high school and college hobby of pottery, so been doing that for a few months. I also kinda gave up, I had to reset my phone and I couldn’t remember my password or log in. which I had written down. Still said not a valid user (I think or couldn’t find user), but after I finally had time to back date my phone it auto logged me in. Of course my login and password were correct just no idea what I did wrong.

let’s see, other than I feel like I’m stuffed inside an exhaust pipe (from all the smoke from Oregon), things have been okay. Still hard but getting better. Some said I was far to reclusive and shy so sorta forced me to start being one with people again. (This was them signing me up for a pottery class lol, which is neat except they want me to teach and that’s not going to happen, I’ll try to play dumb)( I’m not good at that game either). But lol I figured for some of my friends here I can make them whatever kind of pot they want from throwing and it would be a fun Xmas gift etc. here some of the very first ones I did (I have always owned a potters wheel). But gosh it’s been quiet some time (years and years since I have thrown), but surprising I still knew it well. (FYI lol to get back at my dad lol I sign everything darth Vader :). Friends here I’ll sign my normal name. But all the ones parents have asked lol darth Vader it is. Here are some examples

It’s great to see you’re back Sarah. The pottery is beautiful. I can’t wait to see pics of pieces glazed.

Thanks for sharing your pottery skills with us. You are very artistic! If the doctor thing does not work out you have a very artistic skill that you could use!

Hello,

Sorry it’s been a busy week but trimmed some pottery and made a new one. Worked on the tank a little, trying to see if it balances itself out. It’s in the brat phase at the moment.
I probably should soon fire these since I have almost a shelf full of green ware. Was off work this morning so made a bowl/vase who knows what it is but hey it has some neat curves in it.

Hello,

No I still do my residency etc work, I will restart my second year residency this spring. Still do the er but been spending more time on the fifth just working with other lead so it’s not so overwhelming at once.

I still love my tank, it’s just being stubborn at the moment and it’s stay consistent but sometimes it doesn’t even like that. Same routine from the get go, but probably gonna need to change something.

Hello,

Good morning and painfully it’s Monday :/. Found out the lfs has the new electronic water tester which does every thing and super accurate. It’s five dollars to use but hey it’s like an icp test (think that’s what it’s called), been out of the news for a tad but time.
I’ve had my lights on for only 8 hours for a while and will try and bump it up and see where things are at. I’ve been having nitrate issues even though my normal process hasn’t changed. Painfully maybe it’s time to just implement water changes again. Though still not driving yet, carting that much water could be kinda tuff, just think if I can stand on my water jugs (like loggers do for logs in the water to roll them), it would help me move them, and I’d be the first to have Hydro powered transportation, as long as I don’t fall on back.

Hello,

So I went to the lfs had water tested which was good and bad. Alk was like 9.5 and cal was 409 and nitrates were 29. Going off the electronic results I can adjust from there. Probably get a different test kit then api. However 5 dollars is pretty cheap and it tells you everything.

Hello,

I have absolutely no clue but I can find out tomorrow when I go to work since they are a block away. I know it’s an expensive little machine :). But it’s really cool and takes like 5 min total to give you results. You can expend it for metals and other items but takes longer and I’m not sure how it works, but lol can find out.

You know lol most think hair dryers are made for us to dry our hair and make it look normal. Nope, they are made for drying pottery to get more aggressive bends in the clay :). Should probably get a torch for them and probably another hair dryer. But it was fun to shape it and still use water :). I’m thinking that once I get a new car or something I’m probably not gonna have room in my garage. Should probably fix that problem before that comes around.
