I am considering buying a 1 year old Red Sea Max e 170 with Sump upgrade, is it worth it or too difficult. I have had leaking BioCube and want a separate back up tank.
Many issues with red sea tanks mainly with poor silicone seals. Inspect and even have seller fill with freshwater to prove no leaks or seal issues

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

I have never owned a RedSea tank, but they do have something of a reputation here for leaking. If you have already had a leak problem, you might want to look at something else. Just a thought.

Good luck!

Welcome!

I am open to the idea of buying a used tank right now, but one rule for me is no matter how good of a deal there is, don't buy RedSea! They already have issues. You don't know how well the previous owner treated the tank (has it always been wet? Was it level? Etc.).
