Using previous QT for FOWLR

Would it be possible to use a tank that was previously used for QT with copper for a FOWLR tank?

Assuming it was cleaned and dried and all new water etc?

What about using pumps etc?

Should not pose any issues if rinsed well. If you want to be really safe you can pop a bag of Cuprisorb in a high flow area for any residual copper.

I use a previous QT for a frag tank these days. I cleaned it out with vinegar and have not had any issues. Wash it out good and you will be fine.

+1 ^^^ vinegar causes the copper to precipitate into a harmless form. Vinegar, rinse, rinse, rinse, dry. Good to go. ;)

Same for equipment too I would assume? Would like to reuse a heater and powerhead if possible. Thanks for the help

My usual cleanup for a QT is to:

• first wash tank & equipment with bleach (this removes bio-film), rinse, rinse, rinse, dry
• second wash tank & equipment with vinegar (this precipitates the copper into harmless form), rinse, rinse, rinse, dry
• third - if tank had a particularly nasty disease or parasite, wash tank & equipment with hydrogen peroxide (this dissolves all carbon based materials), rinse, rinse, rinse, dry

I also like to set everything out in the sun for an afternoon, idk why but I just seem to think it helps.
