Absolutely beautiful insane looking tank wow what a great job I have heard of but never seen a plywood tank and ive been in this hobby for 30 plus years and owned 2 LFS . Anyway thats a awesome job what kind of lighting are you thinking of going with ??? MH is what i would think for a 700 gallon again great job
There are nine Radion xr30 G4 Pros up there. It was easily the hardest decision I had to make for this tank, one week in with the radions and I an happy so far! One of these days I'll bring home the par meter from the shop and map out what everything is at, no point now though there in acclamation mode and at 25% LOL

I noticed you said ecotech can' be controlled by apex. It totally can. You will need a module for that. Not sure by the extras though

@Terence please give knowledge here.
Even vectras? I thought Neptune and Ecotech broke up... I heard rumors an energy bar like Neptune's was being released by Ecotech here soon

Do not, I repeat do not buy a Vectra L1 for anything. Not a return or closed loop. Mine has failed me for the 3rd time now, sure Ecotech is currently send me a 4th pump but it's a hassle calling and waiting for the replacement. They always fail before the year warranty due to seizing but it's very annoying to have to call customer service and wait on a replacement pump, not to mention changing it out. If you decide to get some Epaulette's let me know I'm looking for a pair and have been for a few months for my 7ftx6ftx2ft 625g. Love the tank by the way!

I did now they were a couple lol.

The lights you have are controlled by apex via a module. I'l let @Terence tell you about it

You mentioned "2 part"
A tank this big may want to explore ATI essentials. Rather than a two part it is a three part and claims that once set, water changes are not needed.(unless something happens that requires a reset). Similar to a triton method. I have a much smaller tank, however I am going to give it a try. In your case not having to do regular water changes would go a long way to simplify things.

I am sure that a lot of folks may cringe at the idea however it is something that might be worth looking into.

Vortechs and Radions can be controlled via the Neptune Apex with the usage of the WXM module. The Vectra return pumps cannot. To be able to set the return pump programming you will need a reeflink or use the controller. I have an L1 and recently got rid of my Reeflink and replaced it with a WXM. My thought was how often do I really need to change my return pump programming? I turn it on 60% from the controller and Im good after that. If you want return pump controlability via Apex, Neptune is very close to releasing their COR return pumps.

Have you found a Ca reactor as of yet? Years ago when I was rich (before children) I was planning on a 264"x36"x36" plywood build. Now looking back, the 400g system I have is too much to handle sometimes.

COR gph doesn't hold a candle to the L1 though...

No reactor yet, consumption is no where near justifying the need, I'm pretty set on getting an MRC when I need it though.

Wow. Love the tank setup. I just started the setup on a 750g plywood 10’x4’x30”. I might pick your brain on the plywood structure. It’s always scary!!!

Well the tank has been full for a couple months now and I am confident enough that I'm not going to have an embarrassing catastrophe, that I want to share! I know everyone just comes for pictures so with further ado...

Morning Vance,
Looking great,
I'm still in my building phase so know what you've been through so far lol.
Just a quick one. What skimmer have you gone for as I'm in the middle of trying to decide which one to use.
Thanks
Anthony

Not much left up there to pick hahaha. I don't miss the planning stages, such a stressfull thing. I can't say much for long term success yet, but I believe the almost excessive amount of fiberglass mat was the key to my success here. Built the tank like an inside out boat.

Yes! That couch is a black hole! I'm not allowed to sit down before I go to work, I've been late a couple times now because I I lost track of time. Even my mother, who God bless her heart has supported me through my childhood loving this Hobby but never really "got it" sat down and lost track of time and missed her conference call for work LOL!

Anthony, right now I'm running a Reef Octopus space saver 5000, I am extremely impressed with the amount of sludge it pulls out and how low maintenance it is, I plan on getting a second one here within the next year or so

I'm between 10 minds at the moment. Might go for the big tunze (think its the 9840) but can't seem to find any reviews about them
