Has anybody used Sorbothane to reduce noise and vibration?

I'm running a ReefFlo Barracuda which probably weighs 25 lbs., plus the weight of the plumbing above it. Maybe another 5-10 lbs. of pressure. Total 35 lbs?

It sits on a square of carpet tile with a hard rubber backing, but that doesn't seem to do much. Would 1/4" Sorbothane feet do a better job? What durometer?

Thanks

I admit I had to look up what that stuff was :D Makes me think of the previous generation of high school wrestling mats.
I would recommend grabbing a silicone drying mat first... probably a little cheaper... see if it helps more than the carpet... then upgrade ha!

I had no idea what it was either 😉, until a couple days ago when I started looking for the best way to absorb vibration.

Apparently it comes in several different consistencies from softer to harder, which affects how long it lasts and how much weight it can support. I was hoping there might be someone around who has already played with it a little.

I have something similar except the center of the sandwich is cork between the two rubber pads. I think it was used under a furnace or central A/C unit, so way more heavy duty than needed in this application.

The bigger problem is that it is about an inch thick. I need material that is between 1/8" - 3/16".
