I think they are basically just terrariums with a water feature. I built it for my daughter that wants to keep poison dart frogs. The boards I have been gathering information from call their frog tanks vivariums. I am new to the terrarium/vivarium thing and was just kinda wondering if anyone else here does too. I wanted to see pics of other vivariums set up by reefers. Should of ben more specific.

I saw you on Dendro Board as well. I'm setting mine up as we speak. Are you going to be putting in any frogs?

Wow a water feature in there? Thats pretty cool gooch. Ive wanted to start and amphibian tank of some kind for a while but dont know whats really good to do. Maybe newts or something. What do you all think in like a 10 gallon or something like that?

My dad (trauts on here) set up a cool one for his three salamanders. Like a week after he finished it, he accidently left the door open on it and the salamanders escaped! The little buggers had jumped out of the tank, found a way out of the porch, and got outside in a matter of just a few hours. We looked and looked, but couldn't find them. Just their tracks in the sawdust left over from building the vivarium.

I had one when I had my dart frogs. I might have some pics saved somewhere. I'll see if I can find them tonight or tomorrow.

It is for my daughter and she wants D. Auratus. The Costa Rican Green and Black ones. It will eb a while though. I have to get a glass top for it and let the viv plants take hold first.

wow I am setting mine up right now. got the balls and the board on the back along with the drain in the bottom but thats it. I havent had time to "pack in" the sphag moss yet. Hope to do that tomarrow. I also plan on using a 4x t5 setup. 1 10,000k 2 6500k and 1 5400k bulb system. Thinking if I can get some good growth maybe I can sell the plant growth back to others who are setting up or want to setup. I plan on having azureus frogs.

You doing darts as well? If so, what kind are you looking at?

There's a local here in Roanoke that keeps poison dart frogs. He's got like 3 or 4 tanks i think. The dart frogs look cool

The first ones. Azureus. I edited my post above to reflect that :D. yes I edited it so you didnt know it when I first posted :D.

I am hoping sometime next month to be able to finally get the java moss and some plants. My wife really likes the "red" colored plants but I dont want to get any plants till I get a glass top AND the t5 lighting.

That's cool. We'll all have to share info on our tank builds and inhabitants. I've been searching for some Maraspunga or Highland tricolors but havent had much luck.

I should say mines a 29g tank. Just a plain jane normal tank. I gotta get some "great stuff" to fill in some gaps I dont feel like stuffing with sphag moss lol.

What are you guys using for ultrasonic humidifiers (if any)? I am looking at trying to get one that I can set up to "humidify" the tank for 5 minutes every hour. The only humidifiers I find with timers only have 9 timer settings whereas I would think I would need 24. unless I do 12 minutes every 2.5 hours.

Here's mine built about a year and a half ago, 44 gal Pentagon with my favorite dart frogs. Got a full construction build on Dedroboard. Look forward to building a 75 gal vivarium when I have more room. Very easy to maintain, it's culturing the wingless fruit flies to feed my frogs that's the tough part.

Those look really cool. The "bronze" ones look pretty crazy as well, says like 25% of their offspring are albino!

Wont they just accept crickets? (Sorry, vivarium noob invading the thread )
