Please help!! I've had my vlamangi tang for a while now and all of a sudden he got a cloudy popped out eye. Now I fresh water dipped him, per advice of my local favorite fish store owner... that didn't work. Then he advised to use hydroplex as maybe a boosting agent to help fox his eye. It's been over 2 weeks and now he lost his eye and has now spread to the other one!! I really don't wanna lose my baby, he is the most awesome fish I've ever had!! At a loss as to what my next step would be... any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Tha k you in advance

First off welcome to R2R! I would start off with USP Epsom salts to help with swelling. I would dose the trifecta Metro, Kanaplex, Furan 2 or NFG if you can get it. You’ll need to run the ABX (antibiotics) for 14 days. I believe the Epsom salts is one Tsp per 5 gallons but we’ll get a second opinion on that. @ngoodermuth @Big G

How long have you had him? Did anything come off of him in the FW dip? How long did you dip for? I’m assuming he’s in QT correct? Has he been flashing, twitching, or head shaking?

I've had him almost over 3 months. Nothing came off him in the fw dip. I only dipped him for 3 minutes and stood over him the whole time making sure he was ok. He is in qt now. He was in the tank previously, about a week ago and the cleaner shrimp kept trying to jump all over him. That's the only time he ever shook his head, trying to get him off. I know tangs can be more prone to have ick like issues, but all my other fish in the tank are fine. So I'm scratching my head trying to save my Bubbles

Ok a FW dip needs to be 5 minutes, flukes typically wont dislodge until 3:45 -4:15 mark or so. Problems in the eye are usually a tell tale sign of flukes when it is one eye at a time. Below I pasted links to flukes and doing a FW dip. You may want to consider doing another FW dip and treating with Prazi if flukes are present. The ABX are required now because of infection.
Have you recently added anything new to the the tank without QT?

Thank you so much for your advice. I dipped him today so I'm gonna wait a couple days before I do it again so I dont over stress him. Will do for 5 minutes next time

I wouldn’t wait on getting ABX going though that infection looks pretty bad.

Erythromycin is the best antibiotic for eye infections. Your tang needs it ASAP. Erythromycin can be very hard on the biofilter of a QT. Good idea to dose with some BioSpira or other bio additive that is on hand. Best of luck with your buddy. But I've got to be honest, with infections so close to the central nervous system the prognosis is not good. But don't give up.
