I’ve had this wall hammer for roughly 8 months, and it was easily one of my favorites. I recently redid some rock work in the tank (2 days ago) and ever since I’ve noticed sections melting off. I made sure to move it out of the way and cause no damage to it, as I knew they’re susceptible to infection/decay from injuries.. par has not changed, and parameters are as follows:
N03: 3
SG: 1.026
pH: 8.2
Alk: 250
dKH: 10
Mag: 1400
Temp: 78°F

I have use a turkey baster to remove dead flesh and dipped in coral RX twice, but it continues to melt. I’m worried about the ammonia levels if it proceeds to decay, as the frag is about 6-7” long, and my tank is only 49g.

Any feedback is much appreciated! Thank you.

looks to be too much light, wall hammer is much more like frogspawn you can acclimate it higher but you need to start low an than work you're way up. if the coral is hugging tight an if you watch it will slowly rotate tentacles out of the light. a good thing is to watch are they overly protecting their body mouth's they shouldn't hammers bounce slowly thus the name. if it looks like a bouquet its too much

Update: I had to leave for work, so I disposed of it. Didn’t want it to fester and affect the other colonies.
Be it known- Wall hammer is perhaps the most challenging of hammers and will challenge the most experienced hobbyists
