I have a cheap sun sun powerhead in my tank and the water seems to creep up the power cord and run down to the drip loop. This is the only cord that does this. What causes this and is there any way to prevent it. I assume it is capillary action.

Yes it is capillary action water must coming from another powerhead that you have facing the the one that is dripping or from a return line from the sump. The water is reaching the top of the tank and then running down the cord. I would suggest adjusting the flow of the powerheads in the tank so that this doesn't happen.
