Hello R2R,

This is going to be my first official build as I don't really count the 10G I set up in college (no corals just fish). I originally planned out a 4ft long tank either from Waterbox or Red sea but as I got into the details I just had a gut feeling that having a 120g in a 1bd apartment wasn't such a good idea. I decided a waterbox cube 20 was a good size given the space and now I'm 1 week in to cycling. The nice thing about planning way ahead of time is that I lucked out and found my waterbox and the stand for 50% off MSRP on facebook. It was originally going to be a QT tank but when me and my fiance started to realize a 120g was unrealistic it was easy convincing her to set up what we had.

Equipment

RODI:
Spectrapure Mega MaxCap 180GPD

Tank:
Waterbox cube 20

Stand:
Waterbox cube 20 cabinet

Filtration:
inTank media basket
Eshopps nano skimmer
ROX 0.8 carbon
rowaphos 1-3 tbl spoons depending on what the weekly reading is.

Heater:
Eheim Jaeger 75w
(BRS Titanium 100w controlled by Inkbird soon)

Return pump:
Sicce 1.0 (Reefbreeders DC pump soon)

Powerhead:
Ecotech MP10

Lighting:
Kessil A360X with narrow reflector and spectral controller X

Dosing pump:
(Ecotech Versa dosing All for Reef from Tropic Marin soon)

ATO:
Tunze 3155

Controller:
Raspberry pi with Atlas Scientific probes

Planned stocking

Fish:
1 Orchid Dottyback

Corals:
I'm really on the fence about either going all out SPS even though it's a nano tank (I love challenges) or keeping it simple with LPS and zoas. I guess I can just say you are in for a surprise. I did hear from a youtuber that it's best to not plan and let corals do their thing. I'll go with a "less is more" approach regardless.

To catch you guys up I set the tank up last week on April 4th. 10# of live rock from KP Aquatics arrived on the 7th. I've been watching ammonia levels and doing water changes as necessary to keep the live rock critters alive. So far so good. Heres a photo from tonight.

G’day mate! Sweet build, I said the same about sps but as your system matures and things become stable it’s always good to put a couple easy sps in. Good luck

I know this is off topic but did you order the tank direct? If so how long did it take you to get?

I found the tank and stand on Facebook marketplace. I think if you email waterbox support they’ll be able to give you a shipping time frame.

Updated my equipment and stocking list. I'm thinking about shooting for an SPS dominated nano. To keep nutrients as low as possible and stable I'm going to keep 1-2 fish max. First fish is an Orchid Dottyback which comes in tomorrow. Here's an updated FTS.

Looking good!!
Just set up the same tank about the same time frame.
Looking forward to following this build.

You gonna be sticking with the filter sock?
I personally hate them I just ordered a media rack from intank to replace the sock and sit in the first chamber.

How do you have your chambers set up?

Creating a strong bulwark: Did you consider floor support for your reef tank?
