First post!

I’m setting up a Waterbox Peninsula 7225 and had a question re: overflow.

This is my 4th setup so I have a bit of experience fine-tuning return and return pump flow, but I’m wondering if someone has had any experience with Waterbox and can offer some advice.

As I’m tuning my return pump (Vectra M2) I’m targeting sump flow of 3-5x/h (693-1155 gph). Not accounting for slight reduction due to head height, with the Vectra’s peak output of 2000gph I figure that puts my output pump range someone around 35-58%.

The problem I’m having is that even at lowest allowable flow (35%) and with the water right below the emergency overflow (in this video actually slightly above just to prove the point) I get a lot of trickling of water as it dumps into the overflow. I can’t see any way to reduce this given that I can neither reduce flow nor increase the water level.

Your thoughts and expertise would be much appreciated!

Is the emergency drain adjustable? You could heighten your emergency drain either by replacing with a longer piece of pipe, or adding a pcv slip connecter fitting and then adjust your return pump and drain valve to heighten the level in the overflow so the water isn't falling making the noise.

A quick note to say thank you! Today I 3D printed a small extension for the pipe and it has made a huge difference. Wanted to post that in case anybody else is having the same issue

Id like to see what you did as well..
I have a waterbox 180.5, and this is something ive struggled with the life of the tank.
I also raised my emergency drain higher, it helps. I even cut out the one side of the return line to raise it higher yet. But there are other issues you are going to find going forward.

IMO the design of these overflow boxes in the waterbox tanks is terrible.
If you plan to run VERY low flow in your tank and very low turnover through your sump you can seem to get it to run silent and consistent.

As soon as you add any kind of real flow, especially random flow, to the tank the overlfow box just cant seem to keep up to it and you will have varying degrees of water flushing down the emergency or crashing into the box through the weir teeth.
Ive been playing with my tank for 3 years trying to figure it out to make it run consistently silent and ive never been able to accomplish it with any type of random flow. A constant flow with no variability i can get it to run decently but you are riding a serious razors edge, even a slight change in flow from the return or algae buildup on a pump etc. and you are back to gurgling and crashing water sounds.

My next step is possibly to turn the emergency drain into a durso style standpipe, maybe that will do it but then im running the risk of not having an e-drain.

After three years battling it, im almost to the point of just upgrading my tank. Haha, its a good excuse right?

Just wondering if you mind top share the 3D printed file? What is the dimensions you used for the extension like I.D. and Length? I want to do that without taking any pipe off lol.
Thank you so much!
