Recently I discovered that my RSR 525XL seals were being eaten by a mystery worm. This presented an opportunity to upgrade to avoid a flood.
Ordered a WB 330.7 in March, received it in August. A very long wait.

Delivery day!! Arrived intact without issue. This thing came in two boxes/pallets.

Hired movers to move out my old tank and get this new guy in its place.

Finally in place.

I jump started my first tank with Gulf of Mexico LR, I had instant biodiversity and put in corals in about a months time.
This time around I decided to go with Marco Rocks. Assembled them with Superglue, epoxy, and Marco cement. Used the cement to color them as well.
I didn't like poor flow over the sand so wanted to "elevate" my scape up almost like a bonsai scape.

Let the build begin!

Step one, Side cabinets house electronics on this tank, there is one small hole towards the sump, with humid water and heat, I was afraid for my controllers etc. Hence decided to put in vent fans on the sides to suck in "fresh" air onto the electrics and then into the sump.

Plumbed in my Reef Factory Roll filter
I just found out they went bankrupt. Too bad I was stocking up months early.
Dirty hose is usually connected to the sump basket.

Congrats. For the life of me I can’t figure out why I didn’t think of joining up the 2 drain lines closer to the bulkheads like you did. That would have made my life a lot easier connecting it to the Reefmat. Glad you took your time with it. I might have gone with a slightly bigger pipe horizontally but maybe not.

Hey I saw yours and thought the same and decided to keep it simple.
Where are you planning on directing that far left emergency drain?
Instead of buying a metric converter piece for that PVC, I used my pools back wash hose to drain directly into the skimmer chamber + zipties

Looking good. I started mine about 1½ years ago. I wish I would have plumbed a roller in before I set it all up.
It was something I wouldn't want to do again, but all in all it wasn't too bad, 2 hours-ish. Worse part was to remove everything out of the sump ie skimmer, ATS etc... to make it even easier, i'd use a flexible hose they make for dishwashers or the backwash hose ...

Time for the gyres to retire after a months service.
I think these Tunze Orca will fit in the cutouts for the light, not sure if I should do the outermost or innermost cutout. Unfortunately with work and family, nothing much has happened.

IMG_6365.jpeg

Angled my light a touch so hopefully front pane doesn’t dirty up as quickly and colonies are forward facing instead of up.

The magnets are super weak, so to avoid kids getting bonked on the head, added a secondary safety: a simple kids door latch

Following along! I just placed an order for a Planet aquarium with essentially the same dimensions as your Waterbox 330.7. Very excited, I’ve never had a tank this big!

I’m also curious how those Orcas turn out for you. I’ve been looking at getting some myself.

Had a few minutes today to try and mount.
Well not on this tank with the kraken lids.
Option A
Glue a small piece of glass on top of my bracing to attach the holder
IMG_6400.jpeg

Option B
Attach to light fixture
Issue here is if there is enough space between the powerhead and the rear glass.
IMG_6408.jpeg

Option C
Drill a hole in the acrylic vs tear the screen
I’ll contact kraken to see what they say

If it helps any, look at my build thread. I have the Sea Sweeps but had my lids made with the cut out for them. Just an option.
I saw that and kicked myself a few days ago. Didn't know orcas would be coming out when I bought this tank. Doh!

You could always get a quote for replacing the 2 side covers with a cut out. It's only money 😆
Well I got in touch with Kraken and they did quote me for a new lid. However they were kind enough to give tips on how to drill polycarbonate.

And so with what seemed like a gallon of soapy water....
Hole saw diam: 1.25" - I hope I will have enough space for the pumps wire and the orca's tube.

Any suggestions on how to mount this guy on here? I wonder how much torque it puts out....

Any idea on how to mount? Might need a hole for the pumps wire.

Any idea if the shaft can be shortened even more?
