Size matters? This homewrecker frag seems to have made it through and is coming back. It's crazy to me that I have a frag that looks like this:
Meanwhile, the colony is sitting 5 inches away, perfectly happy, looking like this:
Man, I'm sorry for the tough run, but I'm glad you're not getting out. A change in focus could be exciting. Looking forward to the new reboot.Thought I would pop in and let everyone know I have lost the battle with whatever is going on in the tank.
Things really seemed like they were looking up, colors and polyp extension had started to improve greatly, but then after several weeks I started to get burnt tips and thin tissue on all the SPS in the tank, there was no Alk spike, as to what caused these issue I'm not sure.
I cut 95% sps that was left off the rocks and send them off to various friends and have been running the tank on the bare minimum.
The tank will be coming down in a week or so for a 100% clean, drain and inspection of every component.
This is not the end, I am however done with SPS for the time being, I put all my eggs in one delicate basket, and for 2 years had nothing but success, always knowing that a SPS dominant system was just one small slip away from being gone. I can't do it to myself again with the loss this tank has taken on me.
I will however be redoing the rock work and moving to a LPS dominant system with a heavy focus on torches. I have something special and unique planned and hope everyone will join me on the rebuild of this system.
sorry you lost alot of stuff... we love lps and our 300 is going to be mostly lps/zoa with maybe a few sps in the future...Thought I would pop in and let everyone know I have lost the battle with whatever is going on in the tank.

what kinda of light is that ?
How far away from the top of the tank ? (or water line)
I am also putting my lights a little further from the tank, but I have 4 Radions Gen5 XR30 blues and will be between 12 and 14 inches from tank water line..
I been to WWC in Florida and yes they have lights any where from 12 inches to several feet off the water line but the lights are also radions....
I know Kessil make lights made fro being far of the water line.
From the picture yours look powerfull...so it might work...
This is cool.Still lots to do but I'm really digging this.
Looks truly awesome. Maybe I missed a post but how will this be "supported"?
Cool and interesting. Just curious if you have some sense of load this structure is going to place on the silicone and/or back glass. I have seen something like this before and it was gorgeous. There is a DIY French cleat that the rock is attached too, Here is the design, the red part is siliconed to the back wall of the tank, and the green is what the rock is attached to.
