Over the last week or 2 I've noticed a film on the water surface of my reef tank. Any ideas as to what it is and why it's there?

I run a skimmer but I did mess with my powerheads I'll change them againoils and proteins prob. you need more surface agitation, better yet an overflow. you can also get a surface skimmer thing too to help but more surface agitation is probably good enough.

Gotcha! I'll look into the surface skimmer because I dont have the space for a sump at the moment but trust me I'm working on it lolI don't mean a protein skimmer if that's what you have. it is a dedicated surface skimmer suck in the surface scum and oils. maybe consider running a sump so you have an overflow. that'll take care of it for good lol
