Hi everyone,

Just a question if it is normal for a Wellso/trachyphyllia to open up this way and not fold all the way like a brain. I just got this from my lfs 3 days ago. In their store, this guy was massive and fully fluffy. Mine is still fluffy but not fully folded :(

my Calcium is 450
Alkalinity ranges from 9.7-10.3
Phosphate: im not sure my stupid hanna ulr test kit keeps giving me over range result which is more than 0.9 so weird... i have a refugium and i dont see any algae bloom.
My nitrate is 0 PPM.

Try to bring nitrates up, they appreciate more nutrients in the water!

I don't have a protein skimmer on this tank and I do weekly waterchange of 20% which is about 4 gallons. This is my 20 g nano tank.

Should I turn off my refugium? and remove my carbon pouch from my filter sock? last week I fed my tank 3 times and I got 0 nitrates from my test kit.
What are you using to test Nitrates?

How long are you running the fuge lights currently?

I'd leave the carbon in.

I am using an API test kit lol but before u say anything else. my kit has been accurate with my ammonia/nitrite/nitrate MAYBE THERE ARE SOME trace elements there but idk. Everytime I use my api test kit I'd get my water tested from lfs using their aquaspin and what I'd get from my API and their result are relatively similar.

I am planning to buy better test kit but I just got my hanna test kit for reef keeping so I invested more for test kits to keep check my water parameter for my corals (Mg,Kh,Ca and PO43-)

I run my refugium for 8 hrs and I actually had to cut my chaeto this morning after getting another 0 nitrate on my api test kit

I understand, it sounds like its working for you, so that totally makes sense to me!

Ah i'd try cutting the lights down to 6hrs first.

Lol if anything the nitrate kit is the only one I trust with the API test. But I just got my first rainbow wellso today and noticed at low/no flow during feeding it opened up huge. But when it the waves came back it folded...
