Went into a chain saltwater store

ok i will be the guy to spill the beans.

we are talking about the chain store Aquarium Adventure in Columbus. It is basically a bigger petco

We have the same chain store out by me ( suburbs outside chicago), and they have tangs in water that is green and algae all over the glass and when I asked why it was so dirty they said because tangs are herbivores hahaha I could barely keep a straight face but it also made me mad at the same time

I'm wondering why you are so protective of the name of the store if they are giving out such horrible advice. If you were new and were looking up a lfs online, wouldn't you want to know which ones not to go to? There's no need to sensor your personal opinion, that's why there is the first amendment.

nobody wants to publicly bash anyones business, it may not be the same opinion or experience had by all. but in this case you can see that there are no posiitives coming from this place

Let me tell you something about this chain.

They have these "super sales" where members get 40% off any saltwater livestock but here is the problem the markup on fish is huge

Flame Angels -$99.99
Christmas Wrasse- $109.99
Yellow Tangs - $79.00
Standard Osc Clowns - $49.99

Thats just a few , they are owned by Petland Inc, I know where they get their fish from , from when I had my own business and lets just say taking advantage of people is a understatement.

The only fish I bought from them was a Manderine (fattest one ive ever seen ) for like $20 during the sale

The only thing I bought was a 6 inch Atlantic blue tang for 16.99$ during the sale. I pointed to it and the manager said "that's the parrot fish right". My tank is only 55 gallons so as soon as I bought him I drove to my buddies store (reef systems) and they put it in their 900 gallon

Reef Systems and Phishy are by far the best in town. Just sucks they are closed on the same days. Does todd still have those 6 MP60s on that 900 gallon, those things were making some serious flow in that tank.

Asking questions when your new is what you need to do but make sure you fact check some stuff until you know that the person your asking knows what they are talking about. Even some LFS employees can give wrong or only semi correct info

Thanks for the info guys. Im just south of Dayton Ohio and visit Columbus often, thats why I was curious. I have been to Phishy Business but it was years ago. Ill have to give both a visit when Im up that way again.

So what fish store is this what's the big deal with naming the store. Expose it name it PM it to me and I will say the name and will make a YouTube video of these Criminals!!!!!

Not reef related but... I work at my LFS, and a customer told me the other day that someone at petco told her she needed at least a 29g to house a goldfish, because... wait for it... if you keep it in anything smaller, it's insides will grow faster than the outside, and it'll EXPLODE!! That was one I'd never heard before, luckily she knew they were full of S, and got her single goldfish at our store instead :)

I keep it simple, I only replace the rock when I replace the glass of the tank....it saves time to do them at the same time
