These white string started seriously invading on my coral frag I bought about 2 months back. I originally thought it was just the coral creating new skeleton to grow on, but now I think they're worms of some kind. I haven't seen anything extending out from the tubes though, yet they're noticeably spreading.

What is this? If it's a worm, will dipping fenbendazole work ok for this coral. I also have other frags, how fast does this thing spread to other corals? Luckily I have not seen it on the plug itself where the infestation started, so curious if I need to hose down the other frag plugs with fenben (I would rather not to).

Just an update, I think these are coral boring worms. They grew even more now, and are starting to spread all over the bottom of my quarantine tank.

If they are consider ditching that piece of coral and any other rock or plug in the tank and disinfecting the tank heavily. These have been known to bore holes through silicon and cause leaks.

thanks for the tip, I'm going to test out fenbendazole on them, hopefully it'll eradicate them.

Well sadly fenbendazole killed half the coral, but these white things are still growing. Coral is now resting in quarantine indefinitely until it recovers. I'm going to try and physically brush/pry off as many of these things as i can, but these 'worms' have also spread onto my glass and sponge filter, so reinfection is high.

wondering if I should just cut these corals off individually, then replant them onto a new / fresh coral plug base, and throw out the rest. But the heads are so tightly packed, not sure how to cut these with precision.
