I think that's the corals Mesenterial filaments aka they're spitting their insides out a lil bit
Do you have any idea why this would happen ? Coral has always done well up tI’ll the past 2 weeks ive had the coral a good 5 months no change In flow or light in that time either. Only got this coral and a trachy which is thriving

parameters,

Alk 8.3
cal: 430
salinity: 34ppt
nitrate: 5
po4: 0.06

Looks like a ticked off coral, peters right. Is it new?
Nope 5 months old has always been a lovely coral fully extended all the time up till the last 2 weeks or so. no new additions since December. I dipped the coral as I thought it was a pest. Dip hasn’t improved or made the problem worse.

Is the first picture the same stuff as the second one? The first pic kind of looks like a nudi in there and it could be ticking it off causing it to spit up. Sometimes they just do that and go back to normal, as long as you leave them alone. Torches are strange.

I too believe filaments. I doubt any nudibranch or pest BUT . . there is a way to find out. Dip the coral for about 3-5 minutes and you will know as pest(s) will jump off.

As others have said, mesenterial filaments. Either got stung or something nipped at it.
The only coral I have is over 6 inches away from it a trachy which is doing great I have one spotted cardinal, one emperor cardinal and one hermit crab so I don’t see how it’s been stung :(

@vetteguy53081 I dipped the torch with Nt labs coral dip some stuff did come off but just looked like copepods to me the coral hasn’t got any better or worse since the dip.

just leave it, the more you stare the more uncomfortable it’ll get for both of you. Hopefully it’ll go back to normal, one thing torches definitely hate is being moved around. Sometimes the filaments come out as a feeding response, have you stirred the sand bed or anything? Rearrange rocks etc?
