It def won’t hurt! The good thing about bacto balance is it contains n03 and p04 to keep your tank from bottoming out.. if you like your numbers it will lock them basically. Just go slow it doesn’t take much!

It won’t take much.. idk the size of your tank but mines a 300 and I was dosing 6ml daily if that helps.

Today 525g ish. Next weekend after I swamp my frag tank out for my new one and add my cryptic sump, I’ll be just under 700g. I’m doing right at 50Gs a week on AWC, that will go to 70, but truth be told, I’m debating on going to 15%. My display ready salt holding bin has 300gs in it. I also have a second 300G that stores my mixed salt ready to be transferred through 2 sediment filters into my display ready. So I hope to be able to go about 6 weeks in auto pilot mode with water changes.

It crossed my mind as you noted both additive based method and auto water changes. Your auto water change routine may play a role in the amount of additives you manually adjust. Nothing you are not already aware of but something I found interesting.

System currently around 500g. Soon expanding to 650g.

@KrisReef brings up a good point, so it’s worth an edit: feedings
- 5 times a day feed frozen to the equivalent of 3 cubes per feeding with garlic and selcon mixed in.
- 4 times a day flake, times 3
- 2 sheets of nori a day
- (12/.10)

On doser:
-pushing my 818 SSEnto its limits
- 400 mil of 3 part (s. hydroxide <8.5 s. BiCarb >8.5)
- 4 gal of kalk
- 14 mil of amino
- 32 mil of A&K
- 400 mil of Part C
- 5 mil manganese
- 84 mil fluoride
- 10% weekly AWC
- I have No3, PO4 and vinegar on dosers but don’t currently use them (vinegar is there for remote emergency use if something happens with the kalk or the Sodium Hydroxide.

I do Moonshine, but my ICPs are mostly green and corrections are NOT (thanks for the edit poke) cumbersome. Other than fluoride and manganese I don’t put much weight in the remaining recommended daily’s. I really think A&K gets the job done for the most part. My daily’s consists of 1 drop, yes 1 drop, of the 6 little dropper bottles. I feel like that is the preset default to make you feel like you are doing something.

I actually haven’t done this on the new tank, I ran it on my one of my other tanks a while ago. After 10 months only 4% of the original water is left behind. Big impact was first 90 days. My brain hurts trying to rationalize the exponential decline after day 91, lol.

Thanks. It's a 120. I used the TM calculator on their website. I'm starting with 1ml per day, but if for some reason my nitrates drops to 0 I will stop. If that happens I am hesitant to dose Plus np. I believe that will raise my phosphates higher than I would like.

I have been doing more lately cus I messed everything up with the A and K ..... dont tell anyone but actually im getting ready to set up auto water changing again with my doser. Back to the old days.. I have to agree with you actually on the water changes. Its easier better cost wise and has proven results

I would have done it already but couldnt find the 24v cord for the apex but while cleaing up the fish room over the weekend I found it ! So just gotta setup the dos, little calibration and good to go. I actually did this for years when I worked out of town. Running water all the way from my garage and back. Like about 50 foot run, worked great. Funny enough thats how I flooded my house last year. By accidentally hooking one of those old lines up to the auto dog water in the garage. Came down stairs and stepped on the faux wood flooring and water started seeping up it wasnt good lol. The run will be about 8 feet this time little simpler.
