5 gallon home depot bucket for me on my 20g long tank lol

For those who are going to ask it's driven by the space in my stand. Ideally I'd love to have a 10g down there for some extra space and baffles but oh well.

so i have a question for you all, theres been a couple occasions i have bought frags from locals (big tanks) and they scoop out a few liters of water to accompany my purchase.. how do people have sumps setup that a decent volume of water can be removed without triggering ATOs? if i removed even a cup of water my tunze will kick on

If you have a large volume of water taking out a little saltwater and replacing it with fresh won’t make mich of a difference in salinity.

Mine is a trigger ruby 20c custom done in blue acrylic. Mine sits out in the living room so it needed to look nice and my wife likes blue and I like the ruby configuration better than the sapphire so that’s the color it is.

That was my goal too, but my ambition out weights my DIY skillz apparently! LOL

Lol. Just don’t glue yourself to the sump. I’m not safe around super glue. I routinely weld two finger tips together .... while the frag falls off the rock. Lots of injustice in the world....

I have an Eshopps R-200 Gen 3 and I hate it! I was fairly new to the game when I bought it so I didn't know enough to see the obvious problem with the setup. The return pump section of the sump is on the back side of it and makes it a royal PIA to work on or see water level. I have a Trigger Sapphire 34 that I bought and will be replacing the Eshopps shortly after the new year.

It is detailed in my thread. So you disagree that different sumps have different levels of functionality?
No. Some have different levels of functionality the question I’ve always had is how much of that functionality is required for a reef tank to succeed. Ie there are many witrh 3 or 4 baffles some people think that adds function. I’m just sure that all of the bells and whistles costing hundreds of dollars. Much of the benefit of a sump imho is a much larger water volume and a place to put a slimmer and a carbon reactor. A refugium is a simple piece of plastic. Agai. Jmho
