Not many custom jobs too big for Elite-Aquatics! :) Pictures are from their Facebook page.

DIY, not pretty but effective and cheap.

10 gallon aqueaon from petco, glass panes and siloione from HD. From right to left:

  • Filter sock, heater and external via aqua gfo/carbon reactor.
  • Egg crate basket with rubble rock, cheato and repurposed LEDs from abandoned ATS project, leds and driver from RapidLED
  • Ph and temp probe for APEX
  • BRS DIY ATO
  • Home Depot sump pump float switch (turns off return if water level drops)
  • Sicce 1.5 return

My DT is 29 gal. I also have a CPR 5gal HOB that is my pod/cheato fuge with cheap LED 24" strip lights and a second heater.

Cool thread! I love sumps!

This is mine. It’s a @geo sump and I am in love with it. Amazing build quality, awesome features and obviously gorgeous. Worth every penny and I’m from Canada so shipping it here was a dime or two. It’s still dry as the rest of the project is taking some time to get the funds together but this year she will see water and I can’t wait

I love my geo sump and fuge. I had a life reef lf1300 for 6 months. It was the biggest piece of s@$t I ever wasted my money on. I contacted geo and never looked back.

Interesting you have had such issues with your Life Reef setup, I love mine, the craftsmanship was top notch, Jeff was excellent to deal with and I'm SUPER happy with the results, especially his skimmer. This was when it was first installed, I've had to take the tank down unfortunately do to a recent move but it will be back in action on a bigger build this spring!

I've always had DIY made from aquariums or plastic Rubbermaid type containers. I have 2 heavy duty storage containers on my clownfish breeding and raising systems and I just made this one out of a 40 breeder for my other 3 tanks I have plumbed together. One is a Reef, one is an anemone tank, and one is a frag tank. I made the baffles out of ceramic tiles. It's in the basement so I really don't care too much about it being fancy. The main reef tanks stand is too short and has small doors so that's why it's beside it instead of under it. Easy to work on though.

Looking back to your reefing roots: Did you start with Instant Ocean salt?
