So I woke up today and naturally checked on my fish, and discovered that one of my clownfish unfortunately jumped out of the tank through a small gap by the filter in/outlets :(
This clownfish was the male of a pair which I’ve had for a year now. (I’m saying the male. As the other clown has been growing considerably bigger than him over the year, I assume it is mid or completed transition.

My question is, if I’m looking to get another clownfish today, should I take the female out of my DT and put it into QT with the new one straight away so that it can start to pair up in a smaller environment, and possibly finish up it’s transition if it’s not complete yet?

Or should I let it be alone in the DT (with the other fish) while I QT a new clown, so I don’t pull it out of its home that it’s comfortable in and potentially risk it catching something from the new arrival?

(DT is 75g. QT is 10g.)

Thanks so much!

Me, I would not put the female in QT with new one as there’s a potential of infecting her.

Yes, isolate female who may now be territorial and become dominant

When you say isolate, do you mean Quarantine it together with the new clownfish?
Or leave it where it is in the DT?

Thanks!
