What do you hate about reefkeeping?

If you've had the opportunity to keep a marine aquarium you know that it can bring some of the greatest joy and happiness of your life, but it has its moments when it's frustrating, devastating, or just is alot more challenging than what you signed up for. Whether it be a tank crash, a loss of your favorite fish, or just something that's downright annoying and frustirating like an aptasia or a hair algae and cyanno outbreak. That being said, what is something that you absolutely despise about reefkeeping, I'll go first.

1: vermited worms or burrowing clams, the wild favia I just picked up is infested with them and they're very hard to kill

2: tank crashes. Self explanatory

3: cyanno. also Self explanatory

4: GFO. Great at removing phosphates but covers anything in a 3 foot radius with GFO powder, a pain to clean up

5: water changes with a smaller RODI filter, it takes 8 hours

Aiptasia. Seems everyone is dealing with them these days. There is no ridding your system of them once you have them. I've tried it all and the only reliable thing that's worked for me is a Kleins butterfly to keep the visible ones down.

Best scraper for the money I’ve found

Losing fish after you pay an arm and a leg for them.

Tank is only 8 months old and have lost 5 fish.

Watchamn oby into power head.

Naso tang just wouldnt eat.

2nd watchman goby went into hiding havent seen him in a month.

Skunk clown pair that my percs got murderous on.

$310 down the drain not too mention some fish that came along way from where they belong just to die at my hands.

Sucks

I absolutely hate how I can’t afford a bigger tank. I hate not being to afford the amazing corals I want. I hate not having many fellow reefers near me and having a good reef shop within an hour of me. And I hate it when stuff dies for no reason. I really hate it when you buy a 150.00 coral and it comes with a little parasitic crab eating it from the inside and it takes a week or so to show its self so you don’t fall under the replacement time from the vendor when it dies

Burrowing snail in my favia, somehow this menace surrvived the dip, though he never stood a chance against coral glue

Ooooh thank you!!! Will definitely try that out! The hand held razor blade or credit cards just kill my hands lol my tank is super small so it’s a tight squeeze and ergonomics go out the window haha
