Hey everyone,

I have 3 fish in quarantine right now and all are doing great, except yesterday I noticed a white like bulge coming from my one of my smaller clownfish (pictures below). I do have another clownfish that is significantly larger who I do see bullying him at times, I also have a fox face in there as well. All 3 have no other signs of parasites, symptoms of parasites, or any other issues I can see. I have ran all 3 fish through API cure 2 doses, and they’re in copper right now (12th day at therapeutic level). They are scheduled to be transferred to my 2nd qt on the 15th.

What do you think this is and what should I do about continuing quarantining the fish/fishes?

Thanks!

Is the fish still eating and breathing normally?
This looks like a bacterial infection, but it is an odd area to be from an injury.
Do you have any antibiotics on hand?

Hey Jay,

Yes he seems to be okay and eating normally. I did frozen mysis and pellets and ate both without problem even with the 2 other fish in QT. The only thing I have on hand is prazi pro and General cure. All 3 are in cupramine right now. I do have a 2nd qt tank up and running I can put them in or separate.

I did order metroplex, focus, Kanaplex, and api furan-2 off of Amazon today, should be here on Wednesday.

Be sure to check labels, I’m pretty sure that metroplex and General cure are both metronidazole, so don’t use them together. The kanaplex and furan Ron together would be good for bacterial issues.

Ya I read everything. I think you’re right. I think Kanaplex and Funan will both be able to treat bacterial infections. Should I quarantine him separately for the time being and treat or just treat all fish to be sure? I will put all new fish in 2nd qt tank on Monday, 2 days before the medicinaron comes in. Then will observe all 3 in that tank for a week or so.

I would treat them all together. If the lesion hasn’t worsened by Wednesday you may opt to not treat at all, just to avoid needed antibiotic use.
