It would appear that we were testing, as of yesterday, it does not appear that there would be anything moving forward within the realm we were receiving instructions and reporting on what we had tested. It all vanished yesterday without any notice from those in control.
There is a tight correlation between @Bulk Reef Supply carrying Royal Exclusiv and Vertex shuttering websites, does anyone else find that to be congruous with Vertex failing?

Vertex and RE hadn't had a relationship for quite sometime. I believe originally RE was just building some of the skimmers for them.

And Royal Exclusiv never got over Vertex doing something to them, what I don't know. I imagine RE said they wouldn't be involved with a business reselling Vertex gear? Anyhow, the timing is entirely coincidence to you?

Has vertex as a whole gone defunct or is it just the controller? I have their ca/rx and a couple reactors. Always liked their stuff. Sucks if they went under. And seems like between mindstream, vertex and wasnt there another alkatronic or something or kh monitor that also went under?.. I'd be nervous trying to get a product out. Even Neptune is having a hard time getting the trident out. Seems crazy lately.

We don't know anything about the state of Vertex except that the Cerebra forums and Cerebra slack channel have been shut down.

Gotcha. I've noticed on a few market sites alot of their stuff says notify me when in stock. That's y I was wondering if something was up with the equipment too.

Nothing official at this point. All purely speculation with the current state of affairs.

I have heard, no ideas if true, that vertex USA and vertex are technically separate companies and the cerebra was under the development of vertex usa. Again I don’t know if true, but I have heard that a few times.

Never have to worry about electric malfunction?

You don’t own pumps?
A heater?
Lighting?

I’m confused. All this components can, and will, fail.

Hello,

Ahh I’m not lacking common sense :). Yes they are electrical and they can go out. But why install a middle man and rely just on that? It’s silly. You have a box that has to control and monitor your tank. If that messes up, how many things are you gonna have to check? At least of my pump fails I unplug it an out it comes. Dosing my own tank manually physically lets me see where my rank is at. Maybe it’s just me, but I find the extra work worth while because I know my reef better.

Any electrical component can fail lol I mean you name it and it will fail. My response was not written to show it takes 20 min to dose my tank. When I spoke about electrical failure, that’s on the controller itself. How many threads posts do you see where apex has failed or ghl (pick one), the program goes bad and now your tank is over dosed or under dosed. If it has a major malfunction you lose the whole tank. I just lose that one component. The test run fine because they are conned individually. Yes if my power strip fails (And it has) it’s a simple fix to Walmart. Your simple fix is sending it to apex hoping they fix it: and you manually can’t dose as much or often as the system can. Tanks don’t like swings you don’t see this as a problem? I’m not against them but watch the movie Jurassic Park. And that’s what I think of automated controllers.

Stinks about the Cerebra but I assume anyone still waiting had already come to the realization that it was unlikely to work out.

Don’t knock a controller until you try one. They typically make everything easier, it’s great seeing probe data, seeing trends, and getting alerts when something happens. Anything can fail, without a controller you may not know until you physically inspect the tank. With one, you may get a heads up through an alert and be able to take action sooner. Most are very reliable, keep in mind that it’s rare for someone to post that everyone is working as expected.

Can you share a full tank shot? No offense intended but it’s my standard advise policy to see the persons system before I adopt someone’s strategy and generally only if I think their tank is ‘better’ than mine. In these days of people (not you of course) parroting advise and what they think is best, a fts goes a long ways.

Hello,

Let’s set the record straight! I never bashed any controller I like doing it manually but if I were to have one it was the ghl. Secondly yes I do things manually because personally I feel more connected to the tank. My240 is 2 years old and yeah I use cirrent usa lights also and pumps and wave makers. It takes more than fancy equipment to have a nice tank. I dose all my alk and calcium by hand, mag, nopox. I test once a week, I don’t do water changes like ever, and I buy my rodi water and salt water when needed. I visually inspect each coral every day, and I dose a table spoon of alk and calcium daily. Doing it manually and logging it, also shows me where my tank sits, my notebooks have the whole history of my tank and it was free.

I remember trying to help you in your build thread while many of those corals were dying. I'm so far behind now but did you ever figure out what was going on before the tank move? Did you ever stop dosing the nopox? I still think you'd benefit greatly with a dosing pump at the very least.

Hello,

Gosh there is a lot of events from before I moved my tank in sept and prior. Now after the move I lost a lot of corals and it just stressed them out.

prior when I was losing corals, it would start super slow and it was never the sps was always lps and softies. I strongly believe my water was just to clean. After getting nitrates back up to 2pp things stabilized my hammer came back I was able to save the Miami hurricane and pink *******. They are now growing again which is good. I also had times where I had dosed my tank 1.5 table spoons of alk and calcium running at 8 and 440 mag at 1390-1400, but some how my alk dropped to 6 and cal to 380 in a day. That definitely caused some issues and now it really likes alk at 7 and cal at 420 ish.

The other main issues was when my dad topped my tank off with salt water instead of rodi and it was above 1.30, that cost me for or five acros. Brought that down and saved some of them but others rtn in less than a few hours. I have managed to frag a lot of my corals and place them other places as a back up. The ones that go light speed fast I miss. I have lost full colonies but because I fragged a good section prior I still have that in my tank. After the move it has stabilized for the most part. I have not really lost any corals but I have had some parts die, but again I frag a piece and they still grow. Phosphates always a problem usually below .25 but want it lower because I hate gha lol. I have had to have lfs remove the rock and scrub as much as possible off. It’s getting there and for the tank being set back up for only 90 days it’s doing very well.

No nothing, they have not been in communication with any of the beta testers or their own forum since about 12/23/19

Thanks, I noticed the website was down last week and I don't have facebook to see if they posted anything there. I bought an Apex on Black Friday so I had already given up on the Cerebra. Not sure what took me so long to pick up the Apex, it's been perfect for what I want.
