Hey everyone

I have a 29 Gallon reef tank. I currently have 2 clowns, 1 damsel, and 1 Diamond Goby. I would like to get another fish or two. What kind would be compatible and reef safe? I also would like an interesting fish or nice colors

Thanks in advance!

A sixline wrasse is a great addition! They aren't too bad on the bioload if they are young and are extremely colorful fish! I have one with my 2 clownfish in my tank.

Possibly some blue/green chromis. They are cheap and you can find some small ones. Your bioload will be kind of big though with everything. A protein skimmer would be very helpful to combat that problem!

Thank you. As far as equipment goes. I have two HOB filters with carbon and purigen. I also have a HOB protein skimmer (65 Gallon). I have 30 lbs of live rock and 20lbs of live sand.

Oh okay that's a good setup! And I like the zebra dartfish idea as well. Schooling fish are always beautiful to watch!

i think so, how much live rock do you have? if you have a lot you could just get a pair of them or a pair of firefish. i had a pair of purple firefish in my tank and they always stayed together and it is so cool to watch them signal to each other.

I would caution against the group of blue/green chromis in a smaller tank. 3 will become 1 over time - trust me. I've never kept zebra dartfish. If you go with the three zebra, I'd stop there and not add the chromis or 6 line. I would suggest looking at some wrasses (they are very colorful and active) you do need a top though because they will jump. I think it would be hard to get a group of fish to school in a smaller tank - I'd opt for single more colorful fish - jmo.

i agree with fishroomlady chromis always dwindle down to one but i don't think zebra dart do the same. you could get a banana wrasse which is small peaceful and adds alot of color instead of the sixline wrasse

The sixline needs to be the last fish you add. They can be hyper aggressive and extremely difficult to catch when you find that out.

There is a thread on here titled something like "The fish you regret getting." You should read it.

Fishroomlady does have a point. I have never had chromis myself, so putting 3 in small tank may not be the best option.

And as for a banana wrasse, don't get it for 29g. They are rated for AT LEAST 100 gallons. They get big. Even on LiveAquaria they say minimum tank size is 125 gallons. A six-line is rated for a tank like the 29g. I love my six-line, but keep in mind I had to move him to another tank once, and it took me 2 hours to catch him. He's FAST

I would try to add another 15 lb rock to give more homes also....don't overload because it will do nothing but stress them all out...

I second the midas blenny! I love mine - super active, peaceful and beautiful yellow.
