Gobies have many names you'll appreciate that list more than you know. Unless you want just a normal run of the mill goby. Having that list is quite helpful.

The temptation to grab a yellow or green from my LFS is getting to me but the issue is trying to sex both my current species AND the one in the LFS.

You could keep amblyeleotris (wheelers, Randall’s, aurora, etc.) or cryptocentrus (yellow watchman) gobies too. They will pair with a pistol shrimp and make an entertaining display.

I’d be cautious if it’s a clownfish in with them, they can get aggressive and not many gobies work with aggression however it should work if the clown is still juvenile (Be warned, as an adult the clownfish may turn that tank into a crime scene).
