That is a problem with these green ones. I have about 6 or 7 of them and I have not seen any spawning but yellow clown gobies spawn constantly but they kill the coral with their eggs. They killed all my acropora with eggs. The temptation to grab a yellow or green from my LFS is getting to me but the issue is trying to sex both my current species AND the one in the LFS.
I think as long as you have a larger one and a smaller one you have a chance of male & female which is why I’d probably grab a second black but again, trying to estimate size in the LFS is hard.
I will say these are only a few from each genus so you may come across rarer to find species such as Stonogobiops dracula.Bryaninops

The last three genera I have found to be very uncommonly kept in captivity.

You can see her eggs above her here.
Ive heard that they're fine If they aren't a pair, since I have 1, she should get along with one of them.I’d be cautious if it’s a clownfish in with them, they can get aggressive and not many gobies work with aggression however it should work if the clown is still juvenile (Be warned, as an adult the clownfish may turn that tank into a crime scene).
My female is aggressive even without a male, she mainly swims up to the lubbocki fairy wrasses when they get too close to the ricordea. She mainly puts up her fins and defends.Ive heard that they're fine If they aren't a pair, since I have 1, she should get along with one of them.
I have 1 clown.I think they are all pairs. I have never had two of them that didn't spawn. I think they can change to whatever they want to be.
so will a clown goby be sufficient? My female killed my firefish and fought with my gramma on her own (after killing the male). Your best bet is to stick with sand dwelling or rock dwelling gobies that spend little time in open water.
Assuming it stays out of the way.so will a clown goby be sufficient?
You can keep clown gobies without acros, the only coral I have in my nano with my BCG are LPS and Softies/Mushrooms.Assuming it stays out of the way.
I did consider one for my tank with the murderous clown, didn’t seem like compatibility would be an issue. I just wasn’t sure if I could care for one without an acro colony.
Yeah you can as long as nothing is able to eat it or become EXTREMELY aggressive towards it.can you keep clown gobies in a fowlr then? My tank is one
Ill contemplate the clownfish to clown goby relationship, but when I might get the goby, Ill see their sizeYeah you can as long as nothing is able to eat it or become EXTREMELY aggressive towards it.
after looking through my tank, I have found my Yasha and Koumansetta gobies to be the most secretive and more sand bed aimed fish. I would certainly say that those gobies would probably stay further out of the way of a clownfish than a clown goby.Ill prob get a second clownfish, but I just wanted to get some ideas for other fish
ye, but I dont have them at my LFS, and Ill prob get a second clown lolafter looking through my tank, I have found my Yasha and Koumansetta gobies to be the most secretive and more sand bed aimed fish. Most local fish stores will order specific fish for you. Even Petco will order saltwater fish you wantye, but I dont have them at my LFS, and Ill prob get a second clown lol
