This seems to be the general answer I find online.

"How does your water test? If it tests okay for ammonia which of course should be zero, [if present could cause burns and thus damage delicate eye tissue]then it is probably bacterial. The causes for these infections are generally poor water quality, stress, poor nutrition, contamination in additions to the tank"

I think good food that is fortified should help reduce stress and help speed recovery. Just keep a close eye on all of your fish and monitor. You have not noticed any other signs have you?

Just my .02

Describe the fish as best you can- examples:
breathing- normal, fast, slow, labored
eating- regular, stopped, still eats but weird somehow
swimming- same as usual, shaky, darting, slow
others- scratching, fighting, picked on......

This will help us assist you in your care for this guy...

Observation is an Instrumental Key to fish care and more affective then meds.

Great advice D.

you snuck in on me LOL....

if water pars are out of line-
do small water changes often-rather than Large less frequent...

especially with a newer tank-
a 5 gallon water change followed up by a single gallon every other day, will
help in 2 ways:
1st it addresses the need for proper water pars for the fish, and
2nd it allows for the change to occur at a slow and steady balanced rate.

Huge water changes = quick water par swings = stress

Stress = Poor health and eventual death.

Even when we are changing water pars to the Good- quick change is an ill advised practice...
(example: changing from a poor lit tank to Awesome lighting with 3x intensity)

Just as a seasoned SPS reefer about their experience with doing that...

I tested everything yesterday and all tests are fine. I have been feeding a mix of brine/mysis with a few drops of garlic and selcon.
the other fish are doing great and no signs of any issues however I did get this powder brown last Friday and I have not seen him eat no matter what I feed. he has spent alot of time behind the rockwork and letting the cleaner shrimp clean him. he did breakout with a mild case of ich(stressed) but that has almost totally dissapeared I have been keeping a very close watch on him and like I said last night he look awesome and was acting fine but still as far as I know is not eating. I have also offered him garlic embedded seaweed which the other tangs love and he is not interested. as far as getting picked on there's nothing all of these fish are getting along great. I have a feeling he may have injured himself. maybe he hit his eye on a rock last night?? I will keep tring to get a pic.

I had that happen to my flame angel when I first got it. It took about a week and a half but it got better on it own.

Since he is a new addition it could very likely be a bacterial infection that he was harboring and it presented itself when he was stressed. I don't know what your options are other than to keep (or get) him eating. If you could catch him then you could do a full QT and try to treat anything that he may have but that probably isn't possible or the best idea at this time.

Thank's for all the idea's I feel that if it is due to stress its best to leave him alone and continue to offer him food and hope for the best.

Do you have any nori from the asian market. I could not get my tangs to eat any seaweed, until I introduced them to nori. Now they go insane for any seaweed.

I agree that it is possible that he might have had something prior to you getting him. But at the same time someone could be picking on him at night and he just ran into something.

Good luck

I'm leaning towards agreeing with JT on this one...

Stress- sure, ick- yep, but due to a lack in color fading- and with the extra new problem....

It certainly fits a bacterial infection that has manifested in these outward signs...

I would have suggested a fresh water dip, or prazipro.

Sorry to hear about your fish.
