What happens if micro bubbles get into return pump?

I am building a sump and didn’t add a bubble trap before the return pump. What will happen if microbubles do get into the return pump? Why is it so important to keep them out?

It can cause cavitation. Premature wear of the pump.

They go into the display tank and make the water look hazy, can irritate some corals, and fish if it gets into the gills long term. Aim the skimmer exhaust away from the return pump.

As flipper the dolphin and the ol sod buster said....and....
If you have an external overflow, the bubbles would coagulate and stop the siphon, leading to an overflowing tank.

Not a major issue, just to try and keep them out of the display tank. Looks a little like cloudy water if it gets in the tank. Some may say it may affect fish breathing but I have never had an issue.
