Dosing iron is dangerous to certain fish... Especially yellow tangs and blue hippo tangs. It will kill them unfortunately. I found out the hard way

(Keep this within TOS). We usually talk about what we should do regarding our tank, but what about something we shouldn't do? I want to hear from you; what is something we should never do in reefing? Photo Credit: @Faco_reef

Never swing nunchucks around the tank.

Never start working in the water without stopping and thinking about what could be on your skin. Some times we have to do things in our lives that if contaminates are on our skin could harm our systems. Spraying weed killer, or pest control, doing vehicle maintenance, lotion etc. sometimes our profession could cause issues.

And the opposite scenario from the above is also something to keep in mind.

Never do work in your tank that exposes a wound on your skin to the tank water. Years ago, I spent 3 days in the hospital on IV antibiotics because my small little cut became infected.

I am always cautious about sticking fresh cuts or wounds into my tank. That is probably just the prior nursing school experience in me coming out haha.

I always think about this. Incredibly dangerous to have oxybenzone based sunscreen on your hands/arms. one reason to switch to Zinc based sunscreen.
