(Keep this within TOS). We usually talk about what we should do regarding our tank, but what about something we shouldn't do? I want to hear from you; what is something we should never do in reefing? Photo Credit: @Faco_reef

Don't panic when a problem arises and just start dumping chemicals in!

Give advice when you are losing fish left and right and just an observation, not an insult

NEVER wash your equipment, hardware, or tanks with bleach, because no matter how much you think you've rinsed it all off, there always will be the smallest amount which will destroy anything alive.
I use bleach as an aquarium service guy every day. I just soak whatever I've cleaned in Sodium Thiosulfate or other dechlorinator after. As far as I know, bleach is an oxidizer and the slight residue after this process reacts with organics and is neutralized. @Randy Holmes-Farley to check my explanation. It shouldn't leave any long term toxins or residue.

Turn your pumps off for maintenance and then forget to turn them back on when you are finished.

Ask a friend to feed your tank while you are on vacation without providing portions for each day.

Grab the wrong feeding cup and pour in your beer, your, medications, or your chew cup.

I'm sure that there is a way to clean with bleach safely as you mentioned, but I still don't trust it because I always do things wrong. :grinning-face-with-sweat:

I’ve learned a few of these through my own bone-headed trial and error including this one…

Trust your neighbor to take care of your tank (even if it’s only filling the ATO).:face-with-rolling-eyes:

This is great advice! We one time thought our nitrates were zero so we added neonitrates to our tank. Come to find out they actually weren’t zero and we shot our nitrates up to 100 because of this.
