What is something you should never do in reefing?

We should never just have aeration of our tanks only come from just one source. As an aquarium tech for a lfs, the biggest cause of tank crashes that i saw was when a circuit tripped and the tank wasn't oxygenated. This is easy to remedy by having 2 pumps aerating from 2 different circuits.

NEVER wash your equipment, hardware, or tanks with bleach, because no matter how much you think you've rinsed it all off, there always will be the smallest amount which will destroy anything alive.

I would air dry for several days if bleached is used.. outside in the sun if possible

Don't mess with the tank when your half in the bag. Alcohol and reefing don't mix.

Another one I learned years ago is don't tinker with the tank at night before bed. Just leave it till the morning.

After you understand how to keep a reef tank, I suggest to not keep it to someone else’s standards. It’s okay to get inspired, but don’t let the crowd decide on your reefing. Feel free to find your own path.

Don’t believe everything you read.

Some folks have a conflict of interest (e.g., cigarette companies saying smoking doesn’t cause cancer) and some just parrot something they read and you don’t know where that info actually came from.

Don't drink titration reagent, or eat palys/zoa.. Basically don't eat/drink or breathe anything that goes into, or comes out, of the tank.

Start reefing without a massive LOC waiting in the wings to reinforce your addiction... :)
A close second would be leaving AC wires anywhere water can get to the connections.
