You could always get a dwarf angel with caution since they've been known to sometimes nip at softies.
Or get a small tang and sell it when it gets too big for your tank
And there's also a really colorful jawfish called a blue spotted jawfish they're really pretty and don't require that much room

That's the blue spot jawfish
I have a young hippo tang in my 46 bow and she's doing great I can keep her 2-3 years depending how fast she'll grow

Your zoas might at risk with a dwarf angel, but IMO, it would be worth it.

Could also check out some of the flasher/fairy wrasses or one of the hogfish --- have an Bodianus bimaculatus, and love it (( just make sure you have a screen top over your tank ))

Will be lucky to be able to keep it 4-6 months in that sized tank. If you get years, something is very wrong.

I have never had any issues with them, and would consider them reef safe.

Are all fairy wrasses reef safe? Because I was looking into them

Yes, they are without a doubt "reef safe". You will want to look into smaller Fairy/Flashers though given the dimensions of your tank. Those that stay under 3.5".

@trex hippo tangs are one of the slowest growing tangs and right now it's just a baby. Everyone has different opinions but I keep plenty of free space in my tank and keep an eye on her once she reaches 41/2 or 5 inches il sell her to a bigger tank

Or a win-lose. They are generally not nice fish that can prevent future additions once it is established, especially other Wrasses. I would avoid personally. If you want to truly stay smaller, look into Possum Wrasses or the Pink-Streaked Wrasse (Pseudocheilinops ataenia).

Actually, P. hepatus is a fast grower --- especially when they are small. Any 5 inch tang would be way too big for a 46.

To the OP ---- I would skip the 6 line, like others have mentioned they are fairly aggressive, shockingly so, given their size.

Agreed on both; in fact they are one of the fastest growing Tangs from what I have seen.

Talbot's Damsels are fun.

In the sense that other damsels are fun. ;) Had 4 at one point --- great looking fish --- but ended up with 2 (( they remaining 2 killed off the other 2 )), and they bullies to all the other fish in the tank. They started off calm and nice, but over the course of a year they started to behave like any other damsel.

I think a couple small wrasses would be a good combo for color and action. I've always liked a group of chromis too.
