what the heck is this???

im assuming this thread will go here since whatever it is has a shell and is more than likely an invertebrate. anyway got an ID and is it reef safe? i picked it up and put it in my sump for right now, but it was burrowed into the sand and i have none in my sump.

That is a horseshoe crab.

Horseshoe crab . i got tons of them wash up on the beach by my house the size of a car tire

Looks like a horseshoe crab. From my understanding, they are reef safe when small but can get very large later on
