what the heck is up with this starfish

starfish is a blue linckia, i've had them before without many problems but i've never seen this. i'm assuming it's dying...

How long has it been like that? Some starfish species can invert their stomach on larger food items to digest them.
 
it doesn't look like it's the stomach. i noticed this around 7am and it's almost 2 now so 7 hours
 
Did you just get him from a store or has he been recently exposed to air?
